PURPOSE:To provide a satisfactory start acceleration property or acceleration feeling by reducing oil pressure to a friction fastening element fastened at least on a start speed change stage among the friction fastening element to slip the element when a start operation is detected. CONSTITUTION:When the start operation of a vehicle is detected by a start operation detecting means C, an oil pressure correcting means D reduces the pressure of working oil supplied to a friction fastening element A1 fastened at least in the start speed change stage among the friction fastening elements A... through a speed change controlling means B to produce a slip. Thus, a load acting on an engine is lightened to increase the rotational frequency of an engine, compared with that in which the friction fastening element A1 is completely fastened. Thus, since the engine is started under the condition of increasing sufficiently the rotational frequency of the engine, a satisfactory start acceleration property can be provided even in large vehicle weight.
