An insertable coupling for pressure-tight connection to a device with a connection nipple or the like comprises an essentially cylindrical housing (17) in which a piston (18), sealed with respect to said housing, slides axially on a central pin (3). Radially expandible clamping jaws (2) are mounted by their front ends on the front face of said piston. An operating part (12) is mounted on the rear face of said central pin. A pressure spring (10) is supported between the rear face of said piston and said operating part. A second pressure spring (11) is supported between said operating part and a spring holder (9) axially mobile in said housing as far as a limit. An annular seal (4) mounted on the front face of said housing is pressed against said connection nipple by said second spring (11). The surface area of the piston (18) is greater than (under over pressure) or less than (under vacuum) the one of the seal (4), and the clamping jaws (2) have inner surfaces which are in contact with a radially expanded edge (21) of the front end of the central pin (3). Alternatively, clamping jaws can be mounted on the housing. |
