The suspension of a steerable wheel axle (3) of a tractor (1), whose axle body (7) is rigidly connected on its rear face to a drag-bar-type sliding guide (4) which pivots freely on the chassis (2) on a ball and socket joint (5) and is supported on the chassis (2) by a lateral guide strut (15), enables the maximum angle of lock to be increased and the overall diameter of the turning circle of the tractor (1) to be reduced. For this purpose, an adjusting device (11, 13, 17, 18, 19, 22) engages in the lateral guide strut (15) and causes the chassis (2) to swivel with respect to the wheel axle (3) or the sliding guide (4) about the ball and socket joint (5), during steering, so that on the one hand the free space for the deflection of the wheel (10B) on the inside of the curve is increased and on the other hand the vehicle axles are mutually inflected. |
