<p>A method for measuring the length of a human limb by compressing body tissue at the ends of the limb a prescribed amount and then making the length measurement while the body tissue is compressed the prescribed amount. Apparatus for performing the method includes a foot plate (14) with a heel brace (16) and a knee brace (20) for repeatably positioning the limb of a patient. A knee plate (24) is slid against the knee to compress the limb a prescribed amount as measured by the deflection of the knee plate against pressure measuring gauge (26), which signals the appropriate condition for measuring the distance between plates (14) and (24) as set forth in various embodiments.</p> |
