The invention relates to a centre axis rotary engine of the rotating piston type with two rotors supported on the central axis, on which annularly curved pistons are provided, which immerse into annularly curved cylinders of circular cross-section. The rotors are connected to an oval toothed gearing in order to obtain a periodically changing ratio of their angular velocities. The rotors are formed symmetrically in relation to the centre axis and balanced. The engine can be used as supercharger, as compressor, as two-stroke and as four-stroke diesel or spark ignition engine.
