The invention sets out from a knee protector with a cylindrical section to rest against the upper end of the lower leg and an upper section to rest against the knee cap of the user, a fastening strap which surrounds the user's leg engaging at the side edge of the lower section. In order to prevent this fastening strap slipping into the back of the user's knee and causing obstructions there, the fastening strap is arranged according to the invention in such a way that it engages on the lower section in the region of the lower edge thereof.
