The invention can be employed wherever optimum operating conditions must be obtained as regards the lubrication of friction locations, especially in the case of spindles running at high speeds, where if, for example, lubrication were excessive, power loss would occur. According to the invention, this is achieved by virtue of the fact that micro oil-mist droplets can only settle on the points requiring lubrication. The remaining points or surfaces are electrically insulated, by oil-resistant coating layers for example. Any excess oil mist is taken up and returned by condensing and flinging discs. The air flow and the high-voltage field for the ionisation of the micro oil-mist droplets can furthermore be controlled as a function of loading, giving a self-regulating lubrication circuit.
