The invention relates to an anode cage (anode basket) made of a metal insoluble in the electrolyte, for holding disintegrated anode material. In electroplating installations equipped with such anode cages, increased consumption of the organic components added to the electrolyte, due to chlorine being formed at the anodes, can be observed. In order to reduce the consumption of the organic bath additions, the anode cage is coated, according to the invention, with a non-conductive layer on the outer faces not required for feeding in current.
