PURPOSE:To easily realize high-speed access and high-speed transfer by using an inexpensive semiconductor laser which consumes less power and has a long life by providing the 2nd light source for preheating at an appropriate position in the direction opposite to the rotating direction of an information recording medium against the 1st light source for recording and reproduction. CONSTITUTION:Separately from the 1st light source 1 which is used for projecting a modulated optical beam for recording and reproduction, the 2nd light source 15 for preheating is provided at an appropriate position in the direction opposite to the rotating direction of an information recording medium against the 1st light source 1. Then a preheating optical beam 15A is projected on the medium just before a modulated recording/reproducing optical beam 1A is projected and pit sections for information bit are preheated just before recording. Therefore, the rotating speed of the information recording medium becomes faster and, even when the linear velocity of the recording section becomes faster, the pit sections for information bits can be formed and recording can be performed with a small-sized recording and reproducing laser source having conventional laser power. |
