PURPOSE:To allow a conversation with an operator with regard to even a hardware fault relative to an external storage device by allowing a simple conversational program which operates a service processor with its reduced functions to reside in a storage circuit. CONSTITUTION:A control storage CS3 is divided into a CS-A for storing a normal resident program, a CS-B for storing an overlay program, and a CS-C where the simple conversational program which operates the service processor with its reduced functions resides. If a fault occurs in a floppy disk FDC4 or FDC5 while a microprocessor MP2 accesses the floppy disk FDD through a floppy disk controller FDC4, the MP2 starts executing a group of instructions of the CS-C. The MP2 executes the instructions of the CS3 to display a simple conversational screen on a console display 10 through a console display controller 6. |
