PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain an acidic polysaccharide with high purity, by adding a specified water-insoluble polymer compd. to an aq. medium contg. an acidic polysaccharide and separating a produced water-insoluble complex. CONSTITUTION:An aq. medium contg. an acidic polysaccharide (A) which is a polymer of a monosaccharide having a carboxylic, a sulfonic or a phosphonic acid group in its molecule and a mucopolysaccharide of animal, etc., such as hyaluronic acid or chondroitin sulfate, is mixed with a water-insoluble polymer compd. (B) having a quat. ammonium salt group on its side chain [e.g., a compd. wherein a quat. ammonium salt group such as a trimethylcetylammonium salt group is bound to the side chains of poly (meth)acrylate, etc., through ester bonds and having a granular shape of 5-100mum] in an amount 5-10 times that of the component A. The mixture is thoroughly suspended and dispersed to form a water-insoluble complex consisting of the components A and B. After being separated by centrifugal separation, it is suspended in an aq. electrolyte soln. of a critical electrolyte concn. or higher to elute the component A in water, to thereby separate and remove the component B and recover the acidic polysaccharide with high purity. |
