In a method for adjusting the length of an elongate flexible body (4, 4', 4'') having a central portion and two end portions (12) and consisting of a plastic material, the body is prepared with a length which is at least equal to a desired length. The body (4') is thereafter imparted a rotary movement about its longitudinal axis while contacting a supporting surface (2), if the length of the body after said preparation exceeds the desired length. An apparatus for carrying out the method comprises a supporting surface (2) for carrying the body (4, 4', 4''), and means (28A, 28B; 30A, 30B; 32A, 32B) for imparting to the body (4') a rotary movement about its longitudinal axis while moving relative to the supporting surface (2). |
