PURPOSE: To obtain a small X-ray spectrometer in which adjusting action of spectroscopic channel is simplified by setting the distance between a quartz analyzer for focusing and the central generating line of an outlet slit equal to or shorter than a distance calculated according to a specific expression. CONSTITUTION: The tubular supporting parts 14, 15 of holders 11, 12 for a quartz analyzer 8 for focusing and an outlet slit 9 have axes 22, 23 aligned with the central generating lines of quartz analyzer 8 and an outlet slit 9. The interval L between the axes is set equal to or shorter than a distance 2R(1-2σ)sinθ(R is the radius of focal plane of quartz analyzer 8,θis the mosaic structure coefficient of quartz analyzer 8, andθis Bragg reflection angle). According to the arrangement, number of adjusting steps of spectrometer can be decreased in assembling work and a smaller spectrometer can be manufactured.
