<p>Pleating device for simultaneously making and flattening a double pleat (DF) and several single pleats (SF) at a lateral distance from the latter. The pleating device is supported on three superimposed pairs of strips (86/87; 88/89; 90/91). The first pair of strips comprises two hingedly connected strips (86, 87) which can move between the extended position and a folded position. The strips (88/89; 90/91) of the second and third pairs can move in mutually opposite directions to each other and to the strips of the other pair. The strips (88/89; 90/91) of the second and third pairs of strips carry at least one knife folder (111 or 110) and the first pair of strips carry the corresponding holder (112). The position of the first pair of strips (86/87) relative to the other two pairs of strips (88/89; 90/91) can be varied. The device is useful in the manufacture of articles with several pleats of different shape, for example the back of ladies' blouses and shirts.</p> |
