Process and apparatus for dewatering water-containing wastes

In the dewatering, preceding a low-temperature carbonisation or incineration, of water-containing waste materials, such as sewage sludges or the like, a comparatively inexpensive and environmentally friendly mode of operation can be achieved by using, for the drying, the waste heat arising as waste product in thermal plants such as ceramic kilns (1). For this purpose, a continuous flow tunnel (2) arranged in parallel with the kiln (1) can be provided which is connected by a flue gas pipe (10) to the suction fan (6) of the adjacent kiln (1) and can be loaded with containers (9) containing the waste materials to be dried.
