1,169,638. Fluid filter. DUCON CO. Inc. 5 Oct., 1967 [25 Oct., 1966], No. 45534/67. Headings BID and BIT. A filter, possibly for liquid but specifically for removing solid or liquid particles from hot gas, comprises two screens 44, 46, the space between which is divided by inclined slats into channels which are 75% filled with sand to enable the sand to be fluidised during cleaning. (Figs. 2, 3) illustrate an annular filter, and filtering flow may be inwards, or outwards at a low speed which allows the sand to remain still. Cleaning is by outward flow of gas at high speed in both cases. With liquid filtration, the duct is drained of liquid before cleaning the sand by gas flow. Fig. 1, not shown, illustrates a similar flat filter. The solids removed from the gas accumulate in the sand and assist subsequent filtration, until the sand is cleaned. |
