<p>The uses and applications of polymer films and other materials that have had their surfaces modified chemically or structurally by the action of one or more pulses of high power ultra violet radiation from both incoherent and coherent pulsed excimer lasers are disclosed. The applications of such surface treatment include surface cleaning, generation of free electrical charges, adhesive bonding, increasing friction, reducing light reflection, making micro particle filters, marking, making field emission cathodes, catalyst substrates, and making hydrophobic surfaces hydrophilic.</p> |
