Vessel (1), particularly a tiltable converter, whose weight is carried on stationary mountings with prestressed tension elements running parallel and perpendicular to the central axis (12), allowing thermal movements, has transverse fixing elements in pairs, with their ends each on the vessel mounting near the vessel. Their other ends are fixed on a displaceable hollow bearing, each transmitting tension forces. A short supporting journal in the hollow bearing is connected at least directly with the vessel wall (2).
