A cursor control for a video device incorporates a plurality of light beams arranged in paths adapted to be selectively interrupted by an operator's finger, for controlling speed and direction of cursor movement. Apparatus for the cursor control comprises a housing (10) having a recess (12, 14) for supporting a plurality of spaced apart light beams (18) and means (22, 70, 72, 62, 74, 78, 80, 84-87) for developing an electrical signal in response to manual interruption of one or more of said light beams by an operator, said signal being representative of movement of the cursor in a predetermined direction and at a predetermined speed according to the beam or beams interrupted. Means are provided for moving the cursor in a direction corresponding to the position of manual interruption from a control position (16). |
