[Also in Division H2] A connecting device for releasably connecting cables electrical conductors or other elongated members 7 or for use as a fixed anchorage for such an elongated member comprises a sleeve 1 having a cavity 5 extending lengthwise of the sleeve and an aperture 1"' extending through the wall of the sleeve into said cavity and a spring loaded clamping member 2 located and retained in said cavity and being axially displaceable and tiltable relative to the axis of the cavity, said clamping member having a part spherical head and a stem provided with steps and terminatings with a part spherical portion which is engaged by one end of the spring 4 which biasses .the clamping member, whereby a portion of one of said elongated members inserted into said cavity and passed outwardly through said aperture is retained within the sleeve between a wall of the cavity and the clamping member. A pin 26 is fixed in a recess in the head of the clamping member and protrudes from the mouth of the cavity to facilitate the axial displacement of the clamping member when it is desired to engage or release the elongated member. Two of said devices can be connected together to provide a. mechanical joint between elongated members or can be used alone as an anchorage. |
