Sulfosuccinamido acids and salts thereof corresponding to the following general formula +TR in which x is a number of 5 to 60 and preferably 20 to 40, M is hydrogen, an alkali metal, an ammonium, C1-C4 alkylammonium or C2-C3 hydroxyalkylammonium groups and, of the substituents R1 and R2, one is hydrogen and the other is -SO3M, and their use as surfactants and emulsifiers in aqueous systems.
