A vibration-damping holder for a chiselling tool comprises a grip sleeve 10 which encases in telescopically displaceable arrangement a shank 20 detachably connected to the tool 70, two helical springs which are orientated in the longitudinal direction of the rod and encase the rod being each connected to a respective end part of the sleeve 10. Both the springs 31,32 are connected to the shank 20 approximately in the longitudinal centre region of the sleeve 10 and are both pre-loaded with a force of ca. 7 kg and have different spring constants. The sleeve 10 is rotationally secured relative to the shank 20 and the rear spring 31 is arranged to be compressed by ca.150 mm from the unloaded state of the holder given an axial holder load of ca. 40 kg.
