Heat pipe apparatus in a heat exchanger has a condenser pipe group (6,14,20) located away from the lower end of an evaporative pipe group (1,12,16). And in the fluid to be heated, a passage for working medium connects the pipe groups. A bubble generator is located in a by-pass passage (42) through which part of the heating fluid is branched to forcedly circulate through the first passage. Flow through the by-pass passage (42) is pref. regulated.
