ELASTIC FILLING MATERIAL FOR STEEL SHEET PILE EXPANSION JOINT

PURPOSE:To improve the waterproofness and expansion property by filling an elastic filling material made of urethane resin, tar and tar heavy oil into the hollow section of the female member of an expansion joint provided on the mutual connection section of water shielding steel sheet piles. CONSTITUTION:Water shielding steel sheet piles 2 and 2 installed in connection with a concrete structure 1 for a water gate or the like of a river are connected to each other with an expandable expansion joint. This expansion joint is constituted of a female member 4 and a male member 5 coupled with its hollow section 3 at one end and hooked and connected to the steel sheet piles 2 and 2 with hooking sections 12 provided on the right and left ends of the female and male members 4 and 5. An elastic filling material 6 made of urethane resin, tar and tar heavy oil at the preset ratios is poured and filled into the hollow section 3 of the female member 4 to form a movable section 7. The load caused by the displacement of the steel sheet piles 2 and 2 can be thereby absorbed while waterproofness is secured.
