PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency, to reduce the size and to lengthen the service life, by fixing first and second piezoelectric elements on the both faces of a resilient body respectively and specifying the arrangement of both elements. CONSTITUTION:In a linear ultrasonic motor, a first piezoelectric element 1 is secured to a resilient body rail 3, and when the element 1 is driven elastic wave 5 is produced in the rail 3, thus moving a slider 4 pressure contacting with the rail 3. A second piezoelectric element 2 is secured to the opposite face of the resilient body rail 3 to that where the first piezoelectric element 1 is secured, with the position thereof being shifted by 1/4 wavelength from that of the first element 1. At first, the first element 1 is driven to move the slider 4, and when the moving direction of the slider 4 is changed, driving of the first element 1 is stopped while the second element 2 is driven, thus moving the slider 4 in the reverse direction. |
