PURPOSE: To obtain an inexpensive small reference electrode which can be assembled to be disposed after use by providing a housing having inner recess filled with electrolyte with a first opening receiving a silver-silver chloride chip and a second opening spaced apart therefrom and specifying the ratio of area between first and second openings and the ratio of distance between first and second openings to the area of first opening. CONSTITUTION: A housing 10 has an inner recess 18 filled with electrolyte 20, a first opening 12 receiving a silver-silver chloride chip 14, and a second opening 16 spaced apart therefrom. The reference electrode 8 can be settled in a relatively short time by setting the sizes and the ratios thereof uniquely. More specifically, the ratio of area between the first and second openings 12, 16 is set at 14.0-728.0, and the ratio of distance between the first and second openings 12, 16 to the area of first opening 12 is set at 2.0-66.0cm. |
