PURPOSE:To improve insulating characteristics, and to enhance reliability by housing a liquid nitrogen vessel cooling a superconductive element into a grounding vessel filled with an insulating gas and further housing the grounding vessel into a vacuum vessel. CONSTITUTION:A superconductive element 4 is housed into a vessel 6 for liquid nitrogen 5, and cooled. The liquid nitrogen vessel 6 is filled with an insulating gas 10 such as SF gas, and housed into an electrically grounded vessel 9. The grounding vessel 9 is further housed into the vacuum vessel 7, and a gap between the grounding vessel 9 and the vacuum vessel 7 is brought to a vacuum state. The superconductive element 4 functions as a superconductor, is quenched and is changed into a high resistor when currents higher than critical currents such as short-circuit currents flow, and displays a current limiting effect. |
