The device consists of two metal frames (1,2) connected by flexible straps (60). The upper frame (2) has two lengths of square hollow section joined at one end by a seat (50) and at the other by an adjustable bar (51). Two further sections (37,38) attached at an angle to the upper sections are joined by a curved connector (36). The lower frame is virtually identical. In use the operator sets the upper frame the pole, with the removable bar on one side of the pole and the curved connector on the other where it wedges. Sitting on the seat he is able to draw the lower frame into position by placing his feet under the bar (28) and lifting. By progressive movements of the two frames he is able to ascend the pole. ADVANTAGE - The frame gives a more comfortable working position than a steps and belt arrangement and is usable on bare poles of varying materials.
