The valve is connected between two diverging pipes (1,2) of an axis (a,e) connecting to the third pipe at the base. The centre core (3) which is the active part of the valve takes the form of a cone hollowed by the intersection of a cylinder. The operating shaft is connected to the top end of the cone and emerges from the body of the valve through a gland, with an operating axis (D). All axes converge at a point (c) which is the centre of the base of the cone. In operation flow in the direction of the arrows can be diverted through either pipe without interruption simply by rotating the cone. ADVANTAGE - There is no reduction in total flow on changing from one exit to the other.
