The level consists of two air filled sealed containers (1,2) interconnected by a sealed tube (7) filled with liq. Two parts of the tube (9,10) connected to the containers are not filled with liq. These parts form the pressure compensation equalisers and means of level reading. The sealed containers each have an air valve in them and the pipe (7) has two stop taps (5,6) in it situated just above the liq. free surface (8). The pipe itself is about 20 metres long. Ball valves (11) prevent liq. passing from the tube into the air containers. ADVANTAGE - Can be used over long distances with precise level measurement because of hydraulic and pneumatic compensation.
