Waste disposal bin - has moulded rim on receptacle with three fingers engaging with similar fingers on lid

The waste disposal bin e.g. for hazardous hospital waste has a square section receptacle with a specially shaped moulded rim e.g. in high density polythene. The rim has three projecting fingers which match the two fingers (2) moulded into the bin lid. During use, the rounded edge of the lid (3) engages in the internal groove and the fingers push the annular seal (9) against the fingers (1) on the receptacle. When the bin is full, the seal is removed and the lid is pushed down firmly on to the receptacle until the edge engages with the groove and the outer elastic hook engages under the shoulder. Channels around the bin provide convenient points for lifting the container. ADVANTAGE - The bin may be permanently sealed to prevent loss of the contents during transit for disposal by incineration.
