PURPOSE:To extend service life of a guide roll and to reduce working cost by suitably keeping gap between driving roll and following roll, supplying forming powder to the gap between the rolls and successively, removing crushed forming powder after forming. CONSTITUTION:A roll for guiding cast slab is made to the following roll 1, and distance pieces 4 for adjusting gap between the following roll 1 and the driving roll 2 are arranged between bearings 1a, 2a. Further, in order to automatically supply the dimple forming powder 8, a hopper 9, inclined plate 10 and exciter 11 are arranged and a scraper 13 set at rear part of the rolls 1, 2. The forming powder 8 is supplied and bitten while suitably keeping the gap delta between both rolls 1, 2 and after forming, the crushed forming powder 8 stuck to the rolls 1, 2 is removed with the scraper 13. By this method, the dimple effect to the guide roll 1 is improved and the service life of the roll is extended. By shortening the forming time, the working cost is reduced. |
