PURPOSE:To increase the adhesive strength of a diamond film by previously forming a diamondlike carbon layer contg. an amorphous component on the surface of a substrate when diamond is deposited on the surface of the substrate from a vapor phase. CONSTITUTION:A diamondlike carbon layer contg. an amorphous component as an intermediate layer is formed on the surface of a material as a substrate. Diamond is deposited on the intermediate layer from a vapor phase to coat the surface of the material. The resulting diamond coated material has high adhesive strength of the diamond film to the substrate and superior wear resistance. |
