PURPOSE:To prevent unwanted contamination by used ink ribbon and contrive a reduction in a manual scanning force, by providing a roller which can be rotated only in the moving direction of a thermal head, is engaged with a take-up means for an ink ribbon and is provided with a recessed part for relief at a part through which an ink ribbon or printed image data is passed. CONSTITUTION:With a main body of a printer moved scanningly in the direction of an arrow A, an ink ribbon 30 is fed out in the direction of an arrow C by the difference mu2-mu1 between the friction coefficient mu1 between a head 20 and a back coat surface 30a of the ribbon 30 and the friction coefficient mu2 between an ink surface 30b and a printing surface 80. A used ink ribbon 33 is fed out from the head 20, and is passed through a recessed part 13 of a roller to be taken up by a take-up core in the direction of an arrow C'. The recessed part 13 of the roller is so shaped as not to make contact with the printing surface 80 of the used ink ribbon 33. Therefore, contamination of the printing surface with a surplus ink is obviated, and the roller is prevented from making frictional contact with the back coat surface 30a of the ribbon 33 to produce a high passage load. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent an ink from flowing out to the exterior of the printer due to defective take-up of the used ink ribbon 33. |
