PURPOSE:To make a normal-point pattern displayable even in a colored state by again rubbing an area corresponding to the normal-point pattern on one substrate in the direction intersecting orthogonally with the first rubbing direction. CONSTITUTION:After an orientation film 15 is rubbed in the direction P, the part of an A-shaped normal-point pattern 11a on the upper surface of a substrate 11 is partially rubbed again in an arrow direction Q intersecting orthogonally with the direction P by using a mask. On the other hand, after another orientation film 16 is rubbed in the direction R perpendicular to the direction P, the part of normal-point pattern 12a having shape 1 on the lower surface of another substrate 12 is partially rubbed again similarly in the direction S intersecting orthogonally with the direction R. Between the substrates 11 and 12 liquid crystal 17 and a dichroic coloring matter 18 are poured. Therefore, such dichroic normal-point pattern displays as the colored display of the normal-point pattern 11a and white display of the normal-point pattern 12a becomes possible on a black background regardless of the turning on/off of this display device. |
