The invention relates to a method for representing in a three-dimensional manner reflectors which are spatially distributed in a component (1) which is accessible from at least one of its surfaces. For this purpose, at least one ultrasonic transmitter (3, 4, 7) is used which acoustically irradiates ultrasound from an accessible surface of the component (1) into the component (1) and receives a reflected ultrasonic component. For processing the received signals an evaluation unit is used in which the positions of the reflectors in the component (1) can be determined. Provision is made for at least one ultrasonic transmitter (4, 7) to be displaced on an accessible surface of the component (1) along a path (5, 8). The ultrasonic signals which have been reflected and received again are stored. After the surface of the component (1) has been scanned the positions of the reflectors in the component (1) are determined in the evaluation unit from the contents of the memory.
