The invention relates to a straightening and stress-relief apparatus for elastic materials, comprising at least two rotatably mounted and rotated rollers which are grouped together in opposing blocks and each lie on a straight line with their axes somewhat offset, between which rollers the material to be straightened is passed in such a way that it is flexed to a relatively great extent at the entry to the rolls and is no longer flexed as it approaches the exit from the rolls. The straightening and stress-relief apparatus is characterised in that the straightening rollers (2, 2') of the blocks (1, 1') are at both ends rotatably mounted, at a certain spacing, in respective endless driven and tensioned chains (3, 4) and run around respective supporting blocks (1, 1'), these being rounded at the inlet and outlet ends and being suspended in respective stands, and roll with an adjustable spacing on the opposing flat or curved surfaces (5, 5'). <IMAGE>
