High-voltage test transformer having insulated core segments

A single-phase high-voltage test transformer for mains frequency, core type in insulating-sheath or dry-type construction with elongated core divided into insulated segments and leakage suppression windings arranged in cascade formation in economiser circuit which resemble the high-voltage windings (linear cascade). In the case of test transformers with MV and MVA orders of magnitude, a technical and technological advantage arises, in comparison with a cascaded testing transformer, through the linear voltage build-up from the base to the head of the transformer and compact construction comprising many stacked identical components, which outweighs the disadvantage of the outlay on winding and core which is necessary for adequate coupling. Test transformers with kV and kVA orders of magnitude may, as dry-type transformers in kit-construction form, consist of convenient components which are stacked according to the requirements of the testing operation.
