In order to cover an optical fibre splice, provision is made of two platelets (1, 2) which are both coated on one side with permanently elastic, adhesive material and which accommodate the splice between their adhesive surfaces. Along one longitudinal side, these platelets (1, 2) have lugs (7, 8) which are configured such that the lugs of in each case one platelet engage in gaps between the lugs of the other platelet, and the platelets (1, 2) are joined to one another along the other longitudinal side. This joint is configured such that it is possible for the platelets (1, 2) to be folded together along the joining line. The joining of the two platelets produces a single-piece splice protector which is easy to assemble (figure). <IMAGE>
