Device for driving at least one screw cable guided so as to be rigid in compression and movable in the axial direction, especially for adjusting a movable part of a vehicle roof. The device has a drive shaft, on which a drive pinion that transmits a driving force to the screw cable is arranged in torsionally rigid fashion, and a split bearing housing which forms a main bearing and a counter bearing for the drive shaft, these bearings being aligned with one another in the axial direction of the drive shaft and being seated on opposite sides of the drive pinion.
