The invention relates to a polarisation-optical method for measuring rolling angles. In order to modulate the direction of polarisation, two partial beam paths which are linearly polarised in a different way are periodically interrupted. Polarisers are inserted into the two partial beam paths and are set to a difference in the direction of polarisation of up to a few angular degrees.
