A printing machine comprises a sheet or web feed, printing units each consisting of a printing cylinder (9) with inking and moistening mechanisms (10, 11), and at least one printing image transfer element constructed as an endless belt (7) which is disposed in contact with a sheet or web guiding cylinder (4.1) and receives images from the nip between each printing cylinder (9) and an associated counter-pressure cylinder (12). The printing cylinders (9) may co-operate with upper or lower runs of endless belt (n). Figs 1 to 3, and multi-colour installations may involve more than one belt (7). <IMAGE>
