PURPOSE:To effectively form a box-shaped tunnel by excavation by a method in which a cutter is set on a pair of left- and right-hand standard-sized endless crawlers and turned vertically. CONSTITUTION:Central, left- and right-hand endless crawlers 13, 15, and 16 are vertically erected by an oil-pressure jack 24 and turned by equalizing the turning speeds of the crawlers 15 and 16 and by pressing a tunnel excavator 1 on facing by a jack 3, where the facing is excavated by a cutter 23 set on the crawlers 15 and 16. The muck 27 is carried backwards by collectors 25 and 25' and a conveyer 8. By altering the turning speeds of the crawlers 15 and 16, a curved tunnel can be excavated. |
