In a single stack waste pipe system having incorporated in the soil pipe 3 a fitting 10 as described in Specification 1,107,023, such fitting comprising a through passage for the soil which is surrounded by a communicating annular chamber whose outer wall is provided with at least two waste pipe connections, one of the, waste pipe connections is connected by a waste pipe or pipes to the water trap of a sanitary fitting, e.g. a bath 1 and a sink 2, for discharging same, whilst a further waste pipe connection is connected by a pipe of smaller diameter than the waste pipe or pipes to the top of the trap to prevent self-syphonage of the trap. In the arrangement shown, a ventilating pipe 7 is connected to the top of the sink trap, via a loop extending above the overflow, and serves to ventilate both sink and bath traps since these discharge, via pipes 5 and 4 respectively, into a common waste pipe leading to the fitting 10. A conventional branch fitting for discharging the bowl 6 of a W.C. into the stack 3 is adapted to be received directly in the top of the fitting 10. In another arrangement (Fig. 4, not shown) there is provided a further waste pipe connection on the fitting (10) for receiving the waste water from a sink (8) in another room at the same floor level, and a second ventilating pipe (11) is provided for ventilating the trap of this sink, the second ventilating pipe being connected with the first ventilating pipe (7) at a tee joint. |
