A self aligning bearing has a housing 10 having a bore in which is mounted annular bushing 14, 16 which has at its inner surface a part spherical surface which abuts a part spherical bearing member 18, the bushing having a substantial axial portion of its outer periphery fused to the housing. A lining 52 may be provided on the inner spherical surface of the bushing which may be of P.T.F.E. or nylon, or aluminium oxide, tungsten carbide or chromium carbide. The bushing 14, 16 is fused to the housing 10 by electron beam welding. |
