ELECTRO CARDIOGRAPHIC AMORTHUOUS ALLOY ELECTRODE

An electrocardiographic electrode consists of an iron or nickel based amorphous alloy containing chromium and one or more of carbon, phosphorus, silicon and boron. The alloy contains 1-35 at.% Cr and 10-25 at.% metalloids and may contain up to 20 at. % Mo such that the sum of Cr+Mo is 1-35 at. %, the alloy being iron-based. The alloy has good corrosion resistance and can be manufactured inexpensively from ferroalloys. The alloy is prepared by melting pig iron or pure iron with Cr and opt. Mo as pure metals or ferroalloys, followed by rapid solidification.
