The device, which allows better automation of paste rolling units, consists of sensor rolls situated below the paste at the entrance and exit of each roller group. Accumulation of paste at one point exerts pressure on the corresp. sensor roll, which stops the preceding rolling or beating phase for sufficient time to allow clearance of the accumulated paste. - If the stoppage lasts a long time, paste accumulates at the preceding stage until detected by its sensor roll, which in turn stops the preceding stage, and so on in succession. Re-starting takes placed when the accumulated paste has been evacuated from the phase following the sensor roll.
