The weir for use in a watercourse (1) comprises a threshold (2) installed in the bed, and one or more bodies (5) movable in relation to it, of a height greater than the depth of water. Each body hinges on the threshold between a horizontal and an upright position, including an angle with it in the latter position. There can be a recess in the threshold accommodating each body when horizontal.
