The binding machine secures one or more folded paper sheets, particularly a newspaper. It comprises a strip (2), of length no more than the height of the paper, and to which two or more open annular spring components (7, 8) are secured at right angles, while one side of the strip joins their centres. In the rest position, the openings in these components are in or below the plane of the strip.
