<p>Small pairs of magnets are mounted on the outside faces of the wheel rim (3). A fork arrangement is mounted between the wheel axle shaft and the bicycle frame. Pole pieces (10, 11) are mounted on the insides of the fork arms (8, 9), leaving only gaps of about 2 mm between the rim and poly-pieces. The pole-pieces and the fork for the stator coil yoke of the dynamo. A coil (7A, 7B) is wound around each arm and connected in series. The changes in magnetic flux caused by the wheel rotation induces currents in the coils. The dynamo output is taken from the ends of the coil series.</p> |
